ISO 9223 / ISO 12944-2 is the duty. The mill already has zinc-coated coil. Batch HDG is an extra shop after welding. If the RFQ only writes GI or HDG, the cheapest photographable path wins.

Manufacturer design-life tables for one Type 2 Zn-Al-Mg coating (ZM310 / ZM430) are often quoted as C3 30 to >50 years, C4 15-30 years, and C5 8-15 years for ZM310. Those bands are mill data. They are not a generic ZM guarantee and they exclude soil or standing-water contact. A USD 40 per tonne gap on 2.5 mm purlin coil is often this missing class. ZM120 coil is not comparable with 85 um batch HDG on 8 mm pile.

Product form decides the process. Continuous coating happens on strip before the profiler. Batch HDG happens on the finished part after cutting, punching, and welding.

Koil galvanis DX51D adalah produk seng kontinyu grade forming. Purlin yang butuh kelas yield harus membekukan S350GD atau S550GD, bukan julukan DX51D. Coating density is mill-specific. One Type 2 producer publishes 6.2 g/cm3 and lists ZM120 about 10 um per side, ZM310 about 25 um, ZM430 about 35 um. Other catalogues use about 6.0 g/cm3. Do not convert a competitor ZM310 with zinc density 7.1 g/cm3 and call it equal to 85 um batch HDG. Substrate chemistry is a separate table. Confirm the ordered EN 10346 edition; typical maxima, not the heat on your dock:

S350GD and S550GD are structural coating grades. DX51D is not a yield class. Shipping DX51D+Z against S350GD+ZM310 changes chemistry and the mechanical contract. Cut-edge talk on thin strip: Al and Mg help a dense film over a sheared edge. One German Type 2 approval uses ZM120 or higher up to 1.5 mm, ZM250 or higher up to 3.0 mm, ZM310 or higher above 3.0 mm. ZM coil fits roll-formed 1.5-3.2 mm members, mill edge rules, class plus mass together, and named weld re-protection, not hope that self-heal covers a 6 mm weld.

Batch HDG coats the part you install. Cutting, drilling, and welding happen on black steel. Thick piles and shop-welded frames still go to ISO 1461 or ASTM A123 even when purlins are ZM coil. Common ISO 1461 minima for articles not centrifuged (confirm edition):

ASTM A123 uses coating grades by steel thickness and often lands thicker on heavy sections than the ISO 1461 mean. Do not treat 85 um and ASTM A123 as the same cell. Fabricated HDG substrate is usually carbon plate or section, not S350GD coil. Buyers still discuss S355JR / Q355B / A36 families for piles. Typical thinner-plate S355JR talk: C 0.24% max, Mn 1.60% max, P and S 0.035% max, yield 355 MPa at t <= 16 mm. Batch HDG belongs when the member is shop-welded, thicker than purlin coil, C5 with an insurance file, or in soil. Do not send 2.0 mm C-purlins to the kettle. Do not send 12 mm welded piles as ZM coil.

Dimensional band actually shipped for tracker coil, mill confirmation required: thickness 1.5-3.2 mm for purlins; width as developed profile, often 200-600 mm slit from 1000-1250 mm parent coil; ID 508 mm or 610 mm; slit coil weight 3-8 MT. Name EN 10143 class or a mill mm band. +/-0.05 mm is a commercial extra. ZM passivation is chromate-free film or oil. Temporary storage, not the 25-year layer. Write dry / oiled / chemical passivation.

Roll-formed members (coil)

  • Standard: EN 10346 (ordered edition) +ZM, or ASTM A1046 type named, or JIS G 3323.
  • Grade: S350GD or S550GD. Not DX51D unless commercial quality is truly the duty.
  • Coating: ZM310 (example). Both sides. Actual mass on the MTC.
  • Thickness x width; EN 10143; ID 508 or 610 mm.
  • Surface: chromate-free passivation or oil.
  • Mill edge rule for punched holes.
  • Certificate: EN 10204 3.1 with heat, chemistry, yield/tensile/elongation, coating mass, designation.
  • Packing: VCI + film + rings + 3 circumferential / 4 radial.

Fabricated members (batch HDG)

  • Black steel: S355JR / specified plate or section; size; named WPS.
  • Galvanizing: ISO 1461 or ASTM A123, ordered edition. Mean and local min for actual thickness.
  • Kettle after all cutting, drilling, welding.
  • Certificate: EN 10204 3.1 plus galvanizer thickness spots.
  • Packing: bundle separators, no wet stacking.

Coil trial MOQ remains 1 x 20GP (25-28 MT) on standard slit sizes.

Kesimpulan

ZM coil and batch HDG are two answers to two tracker jobs. Classify the site, split the bill, freeze the standard and the number, then read that number on the MTC. A 25-year sentence without class, form, and coating designation is not a specification.
