Are ASTM A36 and S235JR interchangeable?
They are specified under different product standards. Similar applications do not establish equivalence. State the required grade and standard, then obtain project approval for any proposed substitution based on the applicable requirements.
What should a plate or coil inquiry include?
Provide grade, standard and edition, product form, thickness, width, plate length or coil limits, quantity and tolerances. Add delivery and surface condition, inspection documents, test requirements, packing and destination.
How should coil and plate be listed in one inquiry?
Use separate lines for each form, grade, size and quantity. State coil weight or plate handling limits, identification and document requirements. Confirm packing and shipment arrangements in the quotation.
What should be checked before selecting a higher-strength grade?
Have the responsible designer confirm the grade and applicable product standard. Check thickness-dependent properties, impact requirements, delivery condition and fabrication constraints. A higher nominal strength alone does not establish suitability.
