Start with the standard on the drawing
DX51D under EN 10346, SGCC under JIS G 3302 and CS Type B under ASTM A653/A653M can appear on quotations for commercial galvanized flat steel. Similar applications do not establish compliance with the same purchase specification. Select the governing standard and edition before comparing offers.
For DX51D galvanized coil, state DX51D+Z and the required zinc-coating designation. If a supplier offers another designation, ask for its standard, grade, coating and supporting test results as a separate alternative. Any substitution needs approval against the part and project requirements.

A grade name does not fix zinc mass. Z275 and G90 are often compared, but a mass conversion alone does not establish identical acceptance criteria. Confirm units, total coating versus per-face requirements, sampling and test method under the selected standard. A handheld thickness reading alone does not replace the contracted coating-mass test.
Match the material to forming and handling
Ask for the applicable chemical limits and mechanical results, including tensile strength and elongation where required. Use the ordered edition and thickness basis rather than combining limits from different standards. DX51D is not an automatic substitute for a more demanding drawing grade, and commercial sheet grades do not establish structural suitability.
State base-metal or total coated thickness, width, tolerances, edge condition, coil ID and maximum unit weight. Add the profile drawing, bend radii, surface treatment and storage conditions. For export packing, specify moisture protection, edge guards, handling orientation and markings; agree the final arrangement with the quotation.
Send a comparable RFQ
- Governing standard and edition; primary grade and separately approved alternatives.
- Zinc-coating designation, test basis and surface treatment.
- Thickness basis, width, tolerances, coil ID and maximum unit weight.
- Forming operation or profile drawing, quantity and destination port.
- Required delivery date, packing and inspection scope.
- EN 10204 3.1 certificate when required, coil/heat identification and delivery documents.
